NaNoWriMo month!

Writing a novel

It's NaNoWriMo month, doesn't seem like a year since we reported about the international book writing month, and now we already 5 days into it, at 2700 words a day that means we are already 13500 word behind !

NaNoWriMo is a fun approach to writing novels, completely free and completely open, the goal is to write a 50000 word novel between the 1st November and the 30th November (the deadline being midnight on the 30th).

A completely Kamikaze approach to writing, it's the quantity that counts, not the quality (some well known authors already do this style of writing anyway), the novel can be on any subject, in any language, the only qalifier is getting to the 50000 words mark before the deadline.

NaNoWriMo is now in it's tenth year, begginning at the end of the last millenium, with just 21 people entering that year. Since then it has gradually grown to over 150 000 writers in no less than 90 different countries and is considered the largest writing competition in the world.

Only around 18% of participants successfully finish the competition, where the only prize is a finished novel but as with life itself, it's the taking part that counts (well that and 50000 words).
