SFBook Competition Closes

The Book of the year competition is now closed, thank you to all who voted and took part and of course to each of the authors who have written such incredible works of fiction over the last 12 months.

The winner of the Book of the year will be announced soon on this site, so please watch out for it. I would also like to point out that a few people have attempted to spoil this for everyone (as so often is the case) and SFBook is being falsely accused of a number of libellous comments. This has not only damaged a perfectly innocent and fun competition, but also caused upset and distress to all concerned at SFBook.

A person who at this point will remain anonymous (incidentally none of the authors, each of them are real Gent's) decided at some point in the recent past to email a number of his friends and ask them to vote for a particular book, not just vote on the competition but actually for a specific book.

In addition to this a large number of votes were cast in a very short space of time all within the same geographic location, which the voting system rejected based on IP address pooling. This has resulted in some votes for some books being reduced. In follow up to this, the person who emailed his friends has since made libellous accusations on facebook about myself and the website, and appears to have given out my personal email address, which I neither agreed to, nor accept.

I guess this is effecting me more at present as it's supposed to be the holiday season, the season of goodwill towards others and it's also the first holiday I've had this year so you can imagine I am more than a little peeved...

As such I would like to set the record straight. I am not a communist, although I accept this is a perfectly legitimate political ideology I do not follow that political belief system. I do also not accept any money from any authors that would result in the votes being cast differently on this site. Neither do I accept any money for reviews or any other opinions or work represented on the site. Any revenue generated from the minimal adverts on the site is put towards the running costs of the site, the remainder of which comes out of my own pocket.

I am also not American, this does not actually upset me at all and I would be quite happy to be considered American but the simple fact is that I am not.

I would respectfully request that any libellous information about the site, or me is removed, this is a non profit site that I personally spent a large amount of time and effort maintaining and to receive negative press somewhat undermines all this hard work.

I do hope that the majority of visitors continue to enjoy the website and I look forward to the coming year and all the book reviews it will bring, a very Happy New Year to you all.
