Happy NaNoWriMo!

Writing a novel

Today marks NaNoWriMo month, or (inter)national Novel Writing Month, where thousands of people attempt to write a 175 page (50,000 word) novel in just 1 month (deadline midnight 30th November).

Created by American Author Chris Baty in July 1999, the competition is open to everyone who has ever thought of writing a novel. Due to the limited time, it is expected that the result will be of a low quality, it's all about the output with the idea being that it is a great excersise in learning to write.

In 2009 there were over 165,000 entrants, over 30,000 managed to create something over 50,000 by the deadline.

For more information you can visit the NaNoWriMo website, good luck to all entrants, and if anyone would like their finished work made available we are happy to add them to the site.
