Dirk Gently for BBC 4

Dirk Gently for BBC 4

Yes, it's confirmed that the new BBC adaption of Douglas Adams Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency will be shown on BBC 4 this winter. Filming has begun in Bristol and will feature Stephen Mangan of "Green Wing" and "I'm Alan Partridge" fame as the intrepid detective.

The series has already been adapted for the BBC4 Radio back in 2007 and featured Harry Enfield as Dirk, there is no confirmed air date as of yet.

Dirk Gently only features in two full length novels, "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" and "the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul" but as a creation of Adams, those 2 novels are absolute gold. Dirk Himself is an pudgy middle-aged man in a brown suit and thick glasses who as a "holistic detective" makes use of "the fundamental interconnectedness of all things" to solve the whole crime, and find the whole person.
