Stephen Baxter
Stephen Baxter is a prolific British author of hard science fiction, who's influences include HG Wells.
Stephen Baxters stories tend to follow 3 distinct categories, there are his Xeelee Sequence novels that are set far into the future where humans have become the second most powerful race in the universe, present day stories which include alternative history and Evolution stories that suggest how humanity could evolve in the future.
Stephen Baxter has won many awards for his work and one of his most critically acclaimed novels was the authorised sequel to HG Well's "The Time Machine", called "The Time Ships".
The Time Ships has won the John W Campbell award, the Philip K Dick award and the BSFA award while also being nominated for many other awards including a Hugo award.
