Larry Niven

Larry Niven is an award winning American author of "hard" science fiction, best known for his "Ringworld" series, the first novel of the series by the same name having won the Hugo, Nebula, Locus and Ditmar awards!.

Hi novels are primarily hard science fiction and often feature theoretical Physics and the "big" science concepts (ie large scale science ideas). He has also written a number of fantasy novels and some detective fiction.

He has collaborated with a number of authors including Jerry Pournelle and Steven Barnes, and is known within scifi fandom for "Niven's Laws", which describe how he see's the universe works, the first of which is:
