Avon Books

Avon Books is an imprint of Harper Collins, primarily publishing romance novels. It was originally founded in 1941 by the American News Corporation as a rival to Pocket Books.

In the early days of the company they published fantasy, science fiction and romance stories however by the 1950's they were publishing more "popular" pulp material.

They launched the modern romance genre in the 1970's and merged with Harper Collins in 1999.

Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.
- Terry Pratchett
