Dying in the sun features the second Doctor as he land in The City of Angels, Los Angeles in the year 1947. A multi-millionaire film producer, Harold Reitman has been killed and the LAPD are convinced that a drug dealer called Robert Chate is the killer.

However the Detective William Fletcher isn't convinced, he believes that the person who calls himself the Doctor has a stronger connection to the crime than he's letting on.
