The first Aliens novels were based on the films of the same name and were written by Alan Dean Foster. Then in 1993 a series of Aliens books featuring original stories was launched by Bantam books. These novels have further developed the Aliens universe and have also crossed over with the Predator series. This series ran till 1998, however a new series of novels have been since published by Dark Horse Comics, starting in 2005 up to the present day.
